Over the holidays I made a heck of a road trip from DC to Texas to Vegas to LA (to catch the Rose Bowl) and back. Took my 04 Supercab and it made the trip pretty easy. Only problem was that I caught a rock thrown by a Jeep while driving 21 miles of dirt road on my way to the western rim of the Grand Canyon. Today they replaced my windshield, but it is not an exact replica. The shaded part that helps block the sun in between the visors does not have the "F-150" logo. Is this something I should be really upset about? The company that replaced the glass told me it would have the logo? THe cost was $270 so I'm wondering if I should have them replace the whole thing again. Thoughts?
If they told you it would have the logo, then yes make them replace it again. I am sure they went with an aftermarket windshield, most glass companies do. You may have gotten what you paid for though, $270 sounds low for OEM windshield, but I could be wrong. Good Luck!
I had a new windshield installed by an independent glass shop who said there was only one correct replacement for the new style truck, and it had the F150 logo. This was last August. There are probably aftermarket windshields available now. I tried to get one with the tinted area at the top, but none were avaialble.
My windshield was hit by a rock from a car ahead of me on the Interstate the very first morning I drove the truck, I hadn't even called the insurance company yet to add it to my policy. I had to call and add the truck and make a claim at the same time. Very aggravating!
Are you sure they put in a Ford OEM windshield? Some insurance companies contract with replacement companies that use aftermarket glass. When the windsheild in my old F-150 got cracked, I made sure to specify Ford OEM glass...
