Over the past few weeks my cold morning start has been weak and this morning no start (evening start after the 11 mile morning trek to work is never an issue). Try and jump and no luck - put it on the charger and off to work, get home take off charger no start super weak starter turn over. Cleaned terminals and checked voltage 12.7x on both batteries when connected and disconnected - turn on truck drops to 11.9/12.0 and no start - wait for gliw plugs to cycle off voltage at 12.3x - no start turn key off 12.5 Volts at both batteries.
is it time for new batteries? or is there something else I should look at - no determination on these Napa legend batteries they where in it when I bought it last April and no date markings
Could also be weak batteries tho. I just had to change mine today as they had quite a few years on them and had been run dead a time or two in the cold and now it was to the point I needed a boost every time. I have changed all my battery cable ends and everything as well but these batteries just weren't cutting it at -30c haha
And I'll also add in that if your batteries ever go dead in the cold make sure to take them inside and thaw them out for a day before attempting to charge as a completely dead battery can be frozen solid, just for future reference for readers who have to deal with the cold
