I tried to halp a young fellow jump start his 2002 powerstroke today and no luck and am wondering, this truck has two batteries, does the starter operate on 24 volts or 12 on these engines? Jumping each battery did not help him get it started.

 

BOth batteries are in parallel, doubling the current required to turn the starter over, 12V system
