So I am buying an f-450 I have a V.I.N. but no where can I find what bed to get. It has a flatbed on it so I’m assuming it was a cab and chassis. The truck I will pick up soon. It is in a different state. How can I find out without having it in front of me. It is a 07 crewcab 6.0 4x4
Well that sucks. Guess I can make some brackets. It has a 12ft flatbed on it. So does this mean a 8ft bed will be short. Never been through the cab and chassis process. I have a choice between this 07 cab and chassis 127k miles for $9k or an 05 drw Lariet 224k miles for $11k
being a cab - chassis.. frame width might be different then a pickup bed..
.
It IS different, no question about it.
Once you get an 8' bed and refigure all the mounting holes and figure out how to account for the bed rail gap where the straight frame doesn't arc up, there's about a 3" gap between the front of the bed and the cab. I've heard of guys building a headache rack that goes all the way down to the frame the fill the gap, or even choping a bed side section out of a junked bed to make a spacer that matches the body lines.
