I have a 76 regular cab with the long bed. The cab is all rusted out and a friend gave me a 78 short bed super cab that was wrecked from the back and broke the frame. I am trying to figure out if the super cab will fit on my frame if I put a short bed on it or is there a difference in the frames.

The wheelbase is about 6" shorter on the reg.cab long bed. You could lengthen the frame, or shorten the bed. I have toyed with this idea for my truck, but for now it will remain a reg cab long bed.
hope this helps you out some. good luck.

yeah, he means the cab mounts. you will have to cut them off the supercab frame and relocate them onto your other frame. i noticed the rear cab mounts on the SC are similar to the front ones but on the reg. cab frame there are no rear cab mounts that extend out and away from the frame.
Eddiburnsii, you said shorten the bed or lengthen the frame. Were you talking about shortening the long bed? I am thinking about finding a short bed to see if it might fit. Has anyone else tried it with the short bed?
i copied that from a statement made by teds74ford. yes he meant shorten the long bed 6" it really is'nt that hard of a job if you have acces to a welding machine and some power tools. do you know how long your bed is???
Mine is the standard long bed, 8' I believe. I am not much of a welder but I have access to a 6' short bed if it will fit. I think it wil be easier to just slap on a short bed that's already made rather than shortening my own.
my advice is to get out the tape measure. i know the supercab is about 23 and a half inches longer than the regular cab. and my shortbed stepside is 6 foot 8 and 3/4 inches. you'll figure something out and when you do let us all know.
