Hoses and belts

This may be a little off topic for this forum but I do own a 2013 F350 CCSRW 6.7L. My other car is a 2005 Ford Escape with 130000 miles on it. I took it into the
dealer and asked for all belts and hoses to be replaced due to age. Dealer said it was not necessary, with current synthetics these parts should last the life of
the motor. He was also short handed that day. For those of you that keep vehicles long term when do you start replacing these parts?

Thanks,
PK

Considering either could/will leave you on the side of the road, belts when visually worn or 100,000 miles whichever occurs first. Hoses last a little longer but not the life of the vehicle. In the dealership eyes, the life of the vehicle is the end of the power train warranty. The life of my vehicles is 300,000 miles or when I hit the lottery, whichever occurs first.

If you buy a spare belt for you truck, check to see if you have single or dual alternators. They do not use the same belt.

Extreme heat and cold will age belts and hoses faster than moderate climates.

I would visually check the belts for cracks/splits. If present I would replace the hoses at the same time of belt service to keep from having to make another trip for aged hoses.
