Finally on the again, kinda
I finally got my dad's 1973 F100 back on the road. When he gave it to me 12 years ago it had a couple burned valves. So, I took the engine out to rebuild. A simple job turned into many big one, lost interest for a few years and life happens. I've been lurking on the forum for a long time and found lots of help here and also recently sparked my interest in the truck again.
I had to drain out 15 gallons of bad gas, and redo the front brakes cause one was seized and didn't work. Just finished bleeding the front brakes and took to the gas station for road test. Engine pulled strong and sounded good. But when I got out there was smoke coming from the right rear brake and smelled like I'd left the E-brake on. Instead of cruising it around I went home before it got too hot. Now I need to do some more work on the rear brakes. After that, I'm going to work on fixing the ridiculous amount of backlash in the steering.
Lots of cool family history with this truck so I hope to keep interested and take Pops for a cruise. I'll work on posting photos and exhaust videos.
Thanks for the help.
