I discovered by accident that my Ex has a remote start. It cranks it but it doesn't fire up. Anybody have experience with remote starts. It's not factory. I think the brand is Volant.

Funny you mention that brand, which I think is actualy Avital branded. Our Odyssey has that brand as well, and it's garbage.
Won't hold a re program, works sometimes just fine, then it won't.
I'm wondering your PO had issues and just ditched it?
That was the case with us.....bought the van last summer, knew it had the remote start but the owner at the time who was the second owner, said it had not worked since he had it at 40k miles 8 years prior to us buying it.
Thanks I'll check it out. Right now I'm trying to fine the Blue Tooth driver on my computer. I think it might have gotten booted or something. I hate this windows 10.
It might not be starting because of a PATS issue. Try the remote start with your key actually in the ignition (not turned to any position, just put it in). This will put the PATS chip in the key close enough so that the PATS system won’t activate. I know several people have simply attached a coded chip next to the ignition cylinder so they can use a remote start. But if you do that then any non-chipped key will start your truck if it will allow the lock to turn. Or if someone busts it with a screwdriver.
Mine wont remote start with the hood up. It will also kill the engine if I don't turn the key on before turning the ignition key to the run before touching the brake pedal. A problem with one of those safety sensors could be your problem.
