Ooops, my bad, I forgot a few words in my sentence, it should have read: "...so I clicked off the OD button on the stalk to keep it out of overdrive, which lowers the EGT's and keeps the engine oil and coolant temps lower in those conditions, not higher."

Don't take my posts as telling you you're wrong, only you know you're truck and how it operates. I'm just giving you info so you can decide on your own if you want to investigate further.

In my humble opinion you have way too much load for the Excursion Chassis to handle. Going 70 MPH with that setup is unsafe. I suspect you won't listen to experience. Your driving your EX like a Race Car ...... Lots of luck and Prayers are needed.

That setup can be perfectly safe if it's setup right and driven sensibly even at 70 mph, and no one only goes 70 mph in a race car.

Yep! ~4,000 miles later trip has been completed successfully, and without incident (well, except for rolling one of the cars and popping the engine on the other one, but "that's tracing", and a whole 'nother story).

In case you didn't read the whole thread (I can fully understand) the truck pulled just fine when we we alone on the road, but we did experience some level of uncomfy aero-caused sway on the trip down around trucks, despite the setup (airbags, HD Roadmaster Active, rear Helwig, weight distributing hitch, friction anti-sway). However, that problem was almost totally rectified by buying a set of nearly-new 2017 F-250 20" wheels and 275/65 tires off Craig's List in Louisiana. That really transformed the setup. Drive home was a very comfy and stable 65-70 mph cruise (most if it on cruise control), averaging 10.5 mpg.

The 20" wheels and 275/65 tires also helped the regular "Excursion wobble" when unloaded (now I just gotta find someone with the tools to adjust my ABS module to correct the speedometer).

The three-axle brakes on the trailer were incredible. The rig's braking was damned close to braking capabilities without the trailer, possibly even better.

The overall setup was so good that when pulling into stations and parking lots we made an agreement among the three of us that someone would verbally call out "OK, remember we're pulling a 34-foot trailer" as a reminder.

BTW, if anyone in the south central Louisiana area wants a set of 16" Excursion alloys with ~9000-mile Cooper Discoverer H/T Tires, let me know. Motivated seller with a bro-in-law that wants them out of the garage...

Yep, I've done that. I don't have the paper handy but I think we maxxed out at a tad less than 5* caster and my guy dropped in a little more negative camber too. Definitely improved the handling.

Exellent!

If I already acknowledged that previously, well, obviously you now have further proof my brain is an Etch a Sketch. I nod "yes" or shake my head "no" too much and I forget everything.

Nah, I don't remember even mentioning it...

It could use some better front shocks, though. New Bilsteins all around but the fronts really need much more rebound, especially with a big trailer load.
