x code spring brand

Guys i got my ticked punched by the boss (my wife) to proceed with getting my truck back up to par. I will more than likerly be posting multiple threads on some of topics and appericate the advice on all who participate.

So for this one i was looking at getting at getting this thing to ride better. My 35s never rubbed. over the last 2 years they are rubbing more and more. Ride quality is getting horiable.

I was pricing springs " X Codes " since ive read many posts on them and everyone seems to really like the ride.

So what brand X Codes have folks bought and had good luck with ?

Ive seen Deaver Springs, Truck Springs, SD Truck springs and ATS.

Any suggestions ?

Just ordered :
Motorcraft steering box
MC PS pump
swaybar link, trac bar, link ends bushings
steering stablizer

About to order 160/0 ac injectors with t500 also.
She should be in fine shape when im finished.

Don't forget to account for the single shot injector tune on your list.

I ordered my rear springs from SD Truck Springs and the service and product was good. I have seen good things about ATS as well. I would stick with either of those two if I were going to replace the front springs.

I think Tugs has ATS X codes on the stinker, but you'd have to confirm.......

X code springs are just the spring rating, Nothing to do with the manufacturer. They're all Chinese made springs. I bought mine from Sd truck springs. Every company is about the same price but the killer is shipping. You're gonna get a 2" lift with X codes. I had to add 3" blocks on my rear to get the rake I needed and to get it to sit right towing my RV.

You ran 35s with a level and they dont rub? Do you know what kind of backspacing and offset your wheels have? I bought my x-codes from SD truck springs and they're holding up good so far.

I went with ATS, you'll probably need new shocks as well.

The only place to obtain genuine X code front springs is from Ford and I forget their wt rating. I'm thinking that the others are 43-818 and may be made in Mejico and they definitely are rated for less than the X codes. I believe that they have different dimensions and spring make-up but verify this information...I believe that the X codes have less arch to them and less give than the 43-818. They do offer another option with a higher rating than the X codes, they will ride rougher. I have the 43-818's up front and am happy with them but I am not trying to level the truck either. I don't remember what I got for the rear axle but I got them from ATS and had them add one leaf to the bottom of them.

I recently (last week) switched these on the Excursion over to

- X Codes in the front
- Modded C Codes in the rear
- Bilstein 5100 on all 4 corners

So far, there is a sea of difference in how the truck rides and feels. Note that my Ex had 17 year old D-G spring combination with unknown age shocks.

Some additional info of my experiences

43-818 is correct and 2630lbs. they are the heaviest duty front spring you can get. This blurb is straight from SD truck springs website. Doesn't say where they're made but Mexico would be better than China. maybe? The tag is still attached to my springs I'll look when I pick up tomorrow from my shop.
.This is the Ford X Code spring. It is the heaviest of the factory springs offered for front of the F250 and F350. Again just to be clear. The 43-818 is the X code spring. So there is no confusion. Part# 43-1263 should be used on the rear of an Excursion with rear A/c.

I got my X Codes from ATS, haven't had any issues out of them (whole install kit w/new shackles and hardware). IIRC they also offer a discount for forum members. Pretty fast shipping on them as well.

You are wrong and I believe that the Ford X code spring is a #3000 spring and only available from Ford.

Edit: Furthermore, there is a 43-818HD

yep. 43-818hd is for a f450 f550; It's not made for a f250/f350. You could if you run them if wanted you were into S&M and hate your kidneys. X code is 43-818. I was referencing Sd not ATS. Here's Sd page Read the specs yourself

Thanks for all the input guys.
Looks like i will be going with SD springs.

When i bought this truck back in 06 thre PO had instaled some sort of lift. The track bar bracket on the axel was a dead give away. Its moved the track bar up about 2.5 inches or so. And there is an added leaf spring directly under the stock spring pack.
Im running 35" tires and have been since i bought the truck.

Question now is what leveling kit will i need to maintain clearance over the 35s.

I know the xcodes will lift is some but not enough to clear 35s.

So x codes and a 2.5" 3" or 3.5"

Also any recommendations on brand ?
