Heated windshield strip where the wipers sit, Subaru has this standard for the past 20+ years. Interesting that my wife's 2018 Expedition has them though.
If you want a supercab 8' bed you can't get LED lights, you can't get electric running boards, you can't get any trim levels above a Lariat and many of the Lariat options are not available in a Supercab. I would have bought a Platinum Supercab if it had been an available option. Ford could have easily gotten another $10,000 dollars out of me; instead it is going to the aftermarket.
Yeah, they really dial back on the Supercab. You can't even get the Ultimate Lariat package on a Lariat! It seems the Supercab is a second class citizen.
My biggest complaint is with the halogen headlights on my Lariat with Value Pkg. Unacceptable lighting for a modern vehicle. Following with great interest all the threads about changing the bulbs to LED lights.
Having owned a 2017 F-350 w/ factory LED headlights as well as a 2018 Raptor with factory LED headlights, plus my current 2017 F-250 XLT with factory quad halogen lights, I'll say a couple of things:
-The LED headlights are functionally superior in terms of brightness and visibility to other drivers. They also look very good, they are distinctive and modern.
-The halogen quad beams look cool! Nobody else has 4 main beams lit simultaneously, including the Fords with LED lights! I think it actually gives the truck a more imposing look than those with LED's, and I have both. The quad beams are not bad with their output, either. Not as good as LED, but a decent halogen.
But yeah, I cannot stand how an XLT Premium package doesn't have an auto-dimming mirror, no rear seat fold-down armrest, etc. I think at *high* volumes the XLT audio system is superior to the Sony system in the Lariat+ trims...it doesn't clip nearly as much.
I'm a little confused about this thread about people complaining about the features on their truck. Did you not test drive the truck or go on-line and do your research? In my opinion this is still a working man's truck. If the fu fu features you bought are not good enough, I say you should've bought an F-150 or maybe another truck from another manufacturer. It's the same for the people that complain about the ride quality. The purpose of the truck is to do work, not drive around like you're in a limousine or something.
Now if this thread was about their truck always having mechanical or electrical issues, then I'd say that's unfortunate and you for sure have my sympathy. But if the truck has been reliable for you and does what it was built for, then that's all you can ask from it...
The guys having trouble with the halogens:
-Are they set correctly? I have a dozen of these in our fleet and they are all retardedly bright! Like get pulled over and ticketed bright. GM and Ford are competing for the most night time head on collisions right now. Your lights might be aimed too far up or down.
-have you been using them too much. The auto setting runs the lights in fog and rain, or any dim day. Halogen bulbs do lose power over time.
-I'd try a high end Sylvania bulb before swapping to LED's.
If any of ya'll are near mid Ohio some time, we can take my truck for a spin. It's quad Halogen lights are no joke. I expect 30% brighter light when I upgrade to the nicer Sylvania bulbs. I may have to aim the lights down a hair because of the extra light. Those bulbs in my 2008 F250 were a bit on the bright side.
Which is my biggest beef with the truck. The light housings should auto level like an Audi. Save the running boards and butt massagers, add an auto leveler system to the lights on all the trucks.

I apologize if I sound like an A-h0le.....
No truck or vehicle is perfect. There are going to be compromises, no matter what you get. These issues people are mentioning are things they have been willing to live with in order to have the best, most capable HD pickup on the market. That's my opinion.

I knew the truck I was about to buy was missing an auto dimming mirror and rear seat armrest, but what was I supposed to do...buy a Chevy? Lol.
I actually think the complaints about the armrest and auto dim mirror are right on the money...since the same exact trim level (XLT) had these features as standard on a 2011-2016 truck. Why *wouldn't* anyone be disappointed when they buy a newer truck and it has less features?
Quad beams on my 2917 F-250 don't come close to the LED's on my last 2016 F-150. Funny how I always get brighted in the F-250. I don't think its people thinking my lights are bright, but them seeing four beams on and assuming my brights are on and flashing me... well... just because.

I agree, it is disappointing that trucks are getting more expensive over the years and less options at lower trim levels.
Between the height of my truck and the tinted windows, I don't have a need for dimming mirrors but this might be a solution for yours.
I have an XLT...a base XLT. I looked at XL's as a starting place and knew exactly what I was getting... seats, headlights, and all. Then I ordered the truck with exactly what I needed. I couldn't care less what the 11-16's "had" since I wasn't buying one. If a person wants all of the fancy junk then step up and get a higher end model if that's what's important. I think people just like to complain.

Really? What if you were like me, and *traded* a 2016 F-350 CCSB 4x4 Powerstroke truck with the XLT Value package for a new 2017 F-250 CCSB 4x4 Powerstroke truck with the XLT Premium package and found out your newer, more expensive truck no longer had a couple of nice features your old truck had? Would you be pleased? I think not. That's not complaining, that's a totally reasonable reaction.
Thanks for the links, C Smitty. I'm planning to add the auto-dimming mirror but I'll live with the lack of rear armrest. The mirror you linked is priced exceptionally well, but some of the reviews weren't great. I'll likely end up with a Gentex; I'm picking about keeping things stock. Still trying to figure out if I can wire in the OEM mirror although it will cost significantly more.

Nope. That's a pretty big red flag there. But not exactly a smoking gun. Adjust your lights down, see if they get better.
I just toss the rear view mirror in the back seat.
