Detailing black window trim

what product do you guys use to detail the black window trim.

This is the trim that turns white if you get CLOSE with wax. And if you DO touch it with wax, it NEVER comes back to black.

This Expedition is the 1st vehicle Ive had with the black trim, and its LOADED with it..
thanks in advance guys

Detailing black window trim

Believe it or not, I spray tire shine (any brand) or ArmorAll on to an old tee shirt and wipe the rubber carefully so I do not get the stuff on the paint or the glass (won't harm the paint) just looks crappy if I get it on the paint. It will last about a month or more (I wash my truck weekly). I will use the tire shine just before washing since it will then washoff the glass and paint but not out of the rubber. Test it in a small area and see how good it really does the job!

Im sorry...didnt specify.

Im not talking about the rubber trim, Im talking about the black plastic trim.
On my EXPY, its about 1"wide trim around all of the windows.

It does not age very well and seems difficult to maintain.

As GoAweigh said use some Armorall or Tire shine on it. There are also a few products out there for this purpose. One is called
"Back To Black". It is avalable at most auto parts stores. I have also heard of people actually painting these trim pieces whenthey are too far gone. Peanut butter works well to get wax off trim pieces.

I wouldn't recommend the Extra Crunchy.

Talking

I recommend cleaning the trim with a good car wash shampoo first, and then coating it with a vinyl and rubber dressing that contains a U.V. protectant. Use the protectant a few times a year, and clean the trim with a good car wash shampoo every time you wash your truck. Hope this helps!

Try 303 Aerospace Protectant

I think the perfect choice for what you are trying to do would be 303 Aerospace Protectant. (I'm a huge fan of it for just about everything) Don't use anything with a petroleum distilate or a silicone base. I'm pretty sure that the 303 will restore any weathering and make the color deeper - try one coat, and let it soak in for about 15 minutes, then rub it off it still damp. kinda rub, buff it till smooth. - let me know what you think.

If you are actually trying to remove the wax, not just cover it up, then Wurth rubber care is what you need. The owner of my favorite body shop [my Wife's car gets wrecked every 6 months!] showed it to me. He REMOVED the wax from my fender flairs in about 5 minutes. I've tried all of the above mentioned stuff, but this gets rid of it for good! Take a look...
