looking for a crew cab f250 - f350 with the 300 i6 (4x4) was this truck available? been looking for awhile. Ive seen lots of f350 dually chassis cabs with 300's some f250 supers with 300's but Ive yet to see a crew cab w/ a 300????
Pretty sure they never made one. Perhaps a special order was available but why? The 300 is a good hard worker in a half ton or single cab 3/4 ton, but in a crew cab? That's pushing it a bit.
Are you aiming to purchase the slowest vehicle on the planet? You would be danger to yourself and every one around you on the road. I do not believe they made one.
When I was in the Air Force, we had one-ton crew cab 2X4 and 4X4 trucks. They all seemed to be powered by a straight six with a HD 4 speed trans. Fords, Dodges and Internationals of 60's and 70's vintage. The Chebbies were the little 1/2 ton short stepsides with the 235 or 250 I-6 and a three on the tree. Had a few Fords like that, too.
Looking at Mil-Surp suppliers, you might find a 1 ton Crew with a I-6. Just expect it to be idled to death. Low miles but a bazillion hours.
They made them but only a handful. The 300 would have been a delete option. The only people who would have ordered them would be fleet customers who intended to do a lot of putting around with a work crew. You'd be better off to combine a 300 equipped parts truck and an crew cab rolling shell.
To the "think of the children!" people:
If OP wanted to be told he's a danger to society for not driving a modern sedan with a million air bags, a backup camera and all that other stuff he could have gone to Reddit or some other internet cesspool.
The truck OP described will perform just as well as any stock truck with a couple thousand pounds in tow. Please remove your heads from your butts.
"The truck OP described will perform just as well as any stock truck with a couple thousand pounds in tow" ... agreed. probably no slower than the 89 tempo or 86 nissan stanza wagon that i owned, or any tractor/trailer rig out there.
"Please remove your heads from your butts" ... the sort of comment that gets a cesspool forming.

Most military vehicles were never much meant to travel at 65 mph(especially back in the 60-70's). Most "base" style vehicles were always under powered and gear bound to only go 35 mph tops.

Intended operating speed and how fast it will typically be driven down a taxiway are two very different things.
Thanks for the replies, I figure I've seen plenty of 1 ton dumps and flatbeds w/ the 300 in them. They put them in f600 and UPS trucks back in the day. We had a old aluminum box truck with a 300 in it that I hooked up to avg. sized mini excavator and it pulled it just fine no speed demon (I don't like going fast anyways) but I was just going around town, that box truck had 500k on the clock and the odometer never even work the while I worked there. As for why would want such a "slug" I guess:
1. I have always liked odd ball things
2. I've always liked the 300
3. I want a 1ton
4. I want a crew cab
5. My favorite book is "the little engine that could"

I thought I saw a pic of one on this site awhile ago and it was a ex military truck, can't seem to find that post again though.

Even the Dodge 4X4 crewcabs with the slant 6 engines would go 70 or so. Don't ask how I know . . .

No 300 I-6's in 600 and larger series trucks after 1979. F500 cancelled after 1977.
300 I-6 available in F350 Crew Cabs despite what some members (probably without any reference material) claim. (sigh)
I imagine there were a few crew cabs built with the I6. I also imagine they would be nearly impossible to find. I doubt many people would have ordered one on purpose.
We have a couple F150 4x4 crews running around town that are 300-6/5 speed. I think they might have been done by Centurion.
I have not ran across any 90s F250 or F350 trucks with a 300 so I build my own a few years back by pulling a 351 and bolting a carbed (and warmed up) 300 to the ZF. 4.10 gears and it was a great truck to drive, ran down the road great with 4.10s. The 300/ZF is a great combo. But (heavy sigh) I could have had twice as much torque with a stock 460 for the amount of gas it used. It wasn't a crew but would have been just fine with the added weight.
