I bought a car with a 289 and I don't know what year this block is? the motor is out of somthing else? is there numbers I should look for and where at? how can you decode the block numbers? how do you decode vin numbers and where do you find those for the car?

Check out the thread below.
Heres how ford codes work. They all start with a alphabet, then a number, The alphabet denotes the decade, and the number will be the year of the decade, so mainly you just need the first two digits.
B = 50's
C = 60's
D = 70's
E = 80's
F = 90's
Example C900E
69' year modle
700E
70' year modle
E4TZ
84' year modle
