First post, year long lurker. We have had single digit and negative temps here and my 92 starts right up and takes me to work each morning. Might have something to do with all new return lines and glow plugs this summer. I'll run mine till the body rots.
I used to lurk alot, still lurk occasionally, after I got out of high school I lost alot of the time I had available for the forums, still checking in here and there though
Facebook is the only way i have of comunication. I WILL NOT own a damn cellphone. Least on facebook you can choose when youre gotten ahold of, and you just delete / ban the idiots.
^^^^^^ +1; I don't even mention being away from home on the forums, until after the fact.
At least on the forums, you know who's advertising/marketing to you. Facebook is like a really lush cow pasture. Yummy native flowers and grasses, warm sunshine, lots of "friends" to commisserate with. But _you_ are the product. EVERY bit of information you provide, in EVERY post you make, much of it information you don't even realize you're providing, gets bought and sold as a commodity.
At least I can turn off my cell phone, and disconnect the battery (yes, mine's that old). Only way to "turn off" facebook is never to go there in the first place.
I did an experiment back in 2012 just before i swore off social media for good. I Created a completely fake facebook, made up person place etc with no profile photo. I started friending everyone that popped up. In a month or so i wound up with close to 400 friends . It was hilarious
I surf the forums some but the fb maybe a factor. I come here when there is a problem ands stay awhile. I guess the trucks are so dependable, what is there to do?
I try to browse through here a few times a week, but its been quite awhile since I posted at all. Other than my park brake cable snapping, I've been using the truck on and off and its been good. I haven't started it in a couple weeks since this cold snap, and there's another one coming in a couple of days. I'll have to make a dump run this Saturday probably, as long as its not 35 below.
Ya it might be 28 years old, but it has been trouble free for 400+ thousand KM's; that means something, especially on the farm. If that doesn't put a smile on my face, I think of ole slave lake. Nothing else could take abuse like that but an IDI
