Good luck Jim. We lost most of what little we had today. At least at this end of town.
I had around 14-15" of snow on the lawn, but down to about 3". But it is a concrete 3". Will take a lot of warmth to melt it. A lot of trails are still good, just very hard
Is that the first time they put one in a Transit? Sounds like they might be a little incompetent
Nope, far from the first one. Unfortunately the lift we chose is one of the more complex ones out there, and this one is a freaking lemon. All of the failures have been with the lift itself, not the installation in the van.
The dealer where we're looking at trading would rip it out and put in a different type of lift that's more reliable. Stay AWAY from a Ricon Slide-Away lift!
Just a bad design that they won't stand behind. Are you looking at a different lift, or completely different vehicle also?
It would be my preference to get the lift replaced, but I'm the only one who feels that way. And it's not just my decision.
We got the Transit shortly after Hannah got her power wheelchair, which was before the idea of cheating and divorce ever entered my wife's head. Lots has changed since then, and the minivans are a lot easier to deal with for a variety of reasons. They all have automatic doors and ramps, rather than manual doors and a hydraulic lift. It would be a better financial move as well, they would retain their value better than the FrankenVan we had them put together for us. Ours isn't ADA compliant because we insisted on standard roof height to fit into a parking garage. Most adults in power chairs would be too tall for it, which limits its appeal in the market.
Pricey stuff to convert a minivan, though. It was $11K to convert our Transit, and about $21K to convert a minivan.
Long time no post everyone. Hope everyone has been well. I think it's been over a year. Finally got logged back in. Found out my 4x4 high is not working but 4x4 low does. When I turn the switch I can hear motor but won't engage, and hubs are locked into manual. And no, I was not doing brake stands in 4x4 low with my SRL tune in it.
Have you tried pulling the motor and seeing if you can turn the selector shaft on the transfer case manually and get it into 4HI? Can try my shift motor if you want too.
Found out last weekend when on way to cabin. Was going up big hill on forest service road and started spinning and no 4x4. Spun out on hill and started sliding back, luckily it caught and after unloading the snowmobile and ranger I was able to back up and get traction in 4 low.
Thanks for the offer Chris,. I will pull it off and see what manual movement does
