Hi, I am new to this site, I am hoping to find answers....
I have a 2008 ford f350, 6.4. I just got my truck back from the shop. I had the motor refurbished and installed ( this came at a hefty price of almost $15,000). The mechanic told us that there were bolts missing from the turbo when it was taken apart( he did put in new bolts). I took it home, about 100 miles away. The truck whistles when accelerating. The wrench light has come on and it has started smoking ( this is not the cleaning cycle). I have climbed under the truck to find oil leaking. I have not found where it is leaking from.
I called the shop and they want to make an appointment to put new seals in my turbos. (Which means more money). Before the motor blew the truck was not whistling, no issues what so ever. Does this sound like a turbo problem? (My old turbos were used). If so, is it safe to still drive my truck?
Just a bit frustrated after putting all this money into it and a bit nervous of being taken advantage of.
I have taken videos of the noise as well as the leaks I have found under the truck. Any input would be appreciated.
Turbo wistle is not neccessarily a bad thing, or it could be a leak in the turbo boots. Or possibly they didn't align the turbos and the up-pipes and or down-pipe. Oil leaks? Take it right back to them, for 15K they should have the enginge wistling and humming and deffinately not leaking oil. If the tubos weren't bad when you took the truck to them, it shouldn't be bad now.

From a little bit of turbo failure experience ...I would probably not drive it. In fact might have to tow it to the shop... I work in fire and one of our engines had the turbo go out... was running great than BOOM!!! White smoke turbo was whining pretty loud when the motor was shut off it was loud as it spooled down... we tried to get it off the road and within about 100 ft it started pouring oil. What happened was when the turbo blew it separated the pipe that’s inside the down pipe and oil was escaping out and it was catastrophic... I would not drive it man... and if they just did it recently and given the amount you paid, I myself would strongly suggest the shop they do it at no additional cost unless they did nothing with the turbo then I can understand that but definitely think about towing it. Could blow your turbo like our truck did and damage your new motor... better safe than sorry by paying to tow it...
Thank you all for your input. I am not familiar with diesels. I know my way around a gas engine. I do have a warranty. I will give them a call to have the truck towed. I was hotter than a pistol. thank you again.
