Wind deflector tape question

The deflectors were cracked when I just bought this truck. I removed one and it appears that they have been on there for a long time. The remaining tape and residue do not want to come off. Before I go trying to remove it I thought I would see what others have done.

I have Goo Gone and a heat gun and I can get whatever else needed. Can someone give me the secret to getting this off without damaging the paint etc. Thanks and Happy New Year Sandy

That's all you need, but a razor blade scraper will help a lot.
WD40 works as well.

I'll try some WD first and pass on the razor. I don't trust myself with a razor on paint. Maybe I mislead you on the name. It is attached above the window on the cab and down the pillar. It buffers wind when window is open. Most are smoke color. Kinda look like a bug deflector.

Anyone else got a tip for this? Thanks Sandy

There are such things as plastic razor blades that sorta work for things like this. I would skip the conventional razor as well.

I've used mineral spirits and elbow grease with good results. I couple years ago this is what I did to remove the leftovers from the plastic Ventshade garbage that was on this truck.

Sounds like a good solution since it worked. The wheel Mr K mentioned is a good idea also that I can try with the mineral sprits and maybe reduce the amount of elbow grease for the W if it doesn't clog.
Thanks and Happy New Year Sandy

Going to try the wheel also. I haven't been out all day. Us South Texas folks are NOT used to this cold. I don't know how others with real cold live in it. Of course we are totally unprepared for this. Lots of houses burning down because of misuse of space heaters and stoves etc. Thanks for the tip on the wheel. Do you live here also? If so, what part of town? Happy New Year Sandy

I've been out three days in a row now.

Yep, up in the Tomball/249 North area.

Do I spy a Lightning in the background?

I wish. My Bro in Law just bought a lightning in Cut and Shoot. I could have gone in with him but decided not to because the transmission didn't seem right. He now has another tranny in it and is - $2K more. This is the 95 truck in the background. Specs below. You are probably 10- 15* colder than me in Sugar Land. Stay warm. Sandy

Hey Sandy. I used the 3M eraser wheel to remove glue residue from chrome gas lid covers and to remove most of the old pinstripe residue. It definitely helped.

Sounds good Glenn. Since you have the truck I like best that I don't own, I am hoping it turns out half as nice as yours. Notice I got your color also. Yes I am a copy cat. Regards and Happy New Year Glenn. Sandy
