Stuck/ possibly broken shifter.
I drive a 1987 f150 with straight six and standard 4 speed. My shifter appears be be stuck in 2nd gear and I can’t for the life of me get it out. The clutch appears to be operational because I can run the engine with clutch petal depressed. Any idea how I can fix this?

The common problem is your shift fork is worn out and slipping over its its retainer and jammed. You will have to pull the top cover off to get to it to replace it. Plenty in search about the procedure. Sandy
