I bought my 2012 F250 6.2L used last May so I don't know the full maintenance history but it recently was slow to crank (temps in the upper 30's). Did not drive the truck for a week and when I went out to start it and it was totally dead - even had to use the key to open the door. No lights on the dashboard or interior.
When I pulled the battery it had a date code sticker of 5/2014 which surprised me as I expected it to be the original from 2012. The battery was a Motorcraft. Replaced it with an Interstate battery from Costco for $94 - hopefully will last longer.
Battery in my 15 started getting weak around 25k miles and 3.5 years. I plow with the truck in the winter and that kills the battery. Put in an interstate 850 and the truck definitely starts better when its cold. Dont put in a dry cell battery if you do a lot of draining and recharging, they dont like that. Learned that from my boat.
