460 Ignition

Got a free DUI ignition, model 32720BL. I'm not very familiar with these or ignitions in general that deviate from stock. My question is, what else do I need to go with this unit? I was assuming a coil, but on the Summit website (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dui-32720bl), it says OEM style but electronic, so I'm going to have to ask you guys before I order anything and waste time/money what exactly this means?

Any help is appreciated

You should have also seen that it is NOT computer controlled compatible. It's useless in your truck unless of course you also want to swap to a carb, and a manual or C6 transmission.

It’s an 87’, so yes it is carbureted and I do have a C6. Should have mentioned that in my OP.

Well, it's just a Duraspark distributor, so go find an old truck with the same system. Grab everything connected to the distributor. Note where the wires go on the ignition control box. Then splice the box into your trucks wiring. Plug the dizzy in, and set base timing.

Yeah I called the place and they said the stock components will work. Just being safe and not trying to waste money. It’s cost me enough as it haha.

Thanks for for the help; appreciate it.

Scotty, The Mad Porter sells recurved 460 distributors and could probably give you a real good idea of what you are getting into.

Duraspark is probably right. I think the 460 swaps with the 351M/400.
