Schaffers All Trans Fluid ?

Is anyone using this currently? The price looks nice at $180 for a 5gal pail for a full synthetic fluid. At 20qt should be just right to have a little left over.

I found a few threads mentioning quality builders were using this fluid and a few other threads saying not to use in a factory not rebuilt yet trans for some supposed reason or another. Was grouped along some of the mercon vs merconV stuff...

Schaeffer Oil | All-Trans Supreme®

Thanks for the feedback.

It's good quality. I also read either BTS or Wood uses it in their built trannies. Dont recall which at the moment. I use amsoil synthetic, but Schaffers is always in the mix in these conversations. Don't think you can go wrong with either. 20qt will be just enough when you flush wasting 2 qts per Marks procedure.

I'm all for it as well! I put it in my trans at 170K and i have 211k now and the fluid looks as good as when I flushed it. That being said, i have about 18 quarts left in a 5 gallon bucket and will probably flush it again in the spring.

Schaeffer's ATF is good stuff. I don't buy the bs about using it in a non rebulit trans. Mark K's write up on a trans flush is spot on.

Brian (BTS) worked directly with Schaeffer Mfg to develop that trans fluid, so it is perfect four our 4R100's.. Scuttlebutt also tells me that Brian was been working with Schaeffer a while back to develop a racing specific formulation for our trannies as well, but I don't know how far that process got and whether or not it ended up with a fully developed product.

You can use it in OEM non-rebuilt trannies with no issues whatsoever.

I have a BTS Transmission and he used Schaffers oil in the build.

If you are changing out the Trans oil, time to install a 6.0 Trans cooler. Remove the 7.3 trans cooler and leave it out and replace with the 6.0 cooler.

10-4 It will be getting a 6.0 cooler also, I've got a few hundred miles left before the target change mileage so enough time to get some pieces fittings and hose together...
eh if santa is nice may have some $$ left over for an external filter housing to mount up also.
If anyone knows of a quality tried and true inline fluid thermostat to complete this thread go ahead and fill in the blank here ___________
Thanks !

This is a trap. I used to check the fluid by draining a small amount from the transmission and patting myself on the back.
The thing is unless you get at least a quart you can't really tell the difference in darkness. Either way, sounds like you're on the right flush interval schedule anyway so props for following that!

Personally I am to lazy to do a flush so I just drain the pan every 15k miles, 8 quarts comes out and you do it every 3rd oil change.

I feel a Trany flush/transfusion is only necessary if changing brand of fluid or suspect very old & contaminated fluid

The Ex is 10k miles and one year new to me and the owner I bought from said his previous owner had the trans replaced... The fluid is just now starting to deviate from pure pink when the dipstick is touched to a white paper towel.

Thinking drop pan, new filter, 18qts flush, 6.0 cooler, inline thermostat, external fine filter then move to numbers comparison of virgin oil / 10k or 15k sample / 15k with 8qt drain change & topoff to blackstone to see what those three numbers look like should give me a good pulse on the trans health.
