Bout to flush the trans. tips?
yea im gonna go ahead put new fluid and filter before i put the edge back in (try to save the trans until i get a DP
) now i got a drag racin buddy that swears by royal purple (syn. i think) but anyway do they make a good fluid for our trans? im prolly gonna add some lucas to it on top of fluid unless i get some better advice... thanks for the help. oh and ive already read the link on how to change it so just some good fluid choice advice thanks guys

and never use Lucas oil in Anything - if you like your truck.
Do not use Mercon V either. And someone will chime in with what oil is thought highly of around here. I think it is the Mobil 1 syn. Good luck.

Use MERCON V. Ford has discontinued MERCON and changed MERCON V to be compatible with the 4R100. The article could use some updating.
The other tip is to warm up the trans before starting the flush. It works better on a warm trans.
