Hello everyone, I'm working on a 65 F750, it has a 391. I would like to paint the engine correctly. Does anyone know what the correct color scheme is. I've seen them corporate blue or industrial gray or black and gold. Thanks for any input.

1960/65 engines were painted black. The valve cover(s) were painted specific colors, as this is how FoMoCo identified engine sizes for garages and body shops.
However, I don't know what colors 1964/65 FT engine valve covers were.
1966 was the first year that the entire engine, including the valve covers, were painted Ford Corporate Blue.
Thanks ND, I have taken the valve covers off and the inside appears to be gold. I have a very original 65 with a 330md and it's engine is black with red valve covers. I'm not sure about the 391, I thought gold was 352 color. Thanks

Black engine, gold valve covers:
1965 Ford/Merc Passenger Car 289 2V
1965 F100/350 352.
So a '65 w/a 391 with gold valve covers could be a possibility.
All I ever seen was the dark blue for FTs. Back then we had a lot of school buses, they
were all dark blue 330's as well as 391's like this bus engine...
And then If I knew everything, I would'nt be sittin here frezzin to death!
So help me - why would mine be painted red? Or possibly deep orange.. (I know it needs a wash)
1973 F700 VIN F70EVQ33245 Engine is a 361
Was a fire truck - possibly custom paint for the order?
