I am going to only pull the pan and replace the filter and the fluid that comes out. No doing the Torque Converter yet. I have no clue what is in there now synthetic, non syn, who knows? What would be the safest ATF fluid to use for this procedure. I have shifting issues and solenoid codes and I will replace the solenoid pack when I do this so I want to be careful of the fluid I use. Things may change after I see the magnet but I want to have the ATF on hand. Thanks Sandy
Mercon 5.Solenoid codes don't just mean the pack has failed. In fact, that's highly unlikely.I would quicker suspect the connector. It's replaceable/repairable.Google search for: E4OD repair harness (ensure to inspect it first and pay attention to the year.pre and aft ;95 versions.)

I am probably already on the hook for the solenoid pack as it was an Ebay deal. If the connector is where I can do it also while I am in there and its not a fortune I can do that. Where is it and anything complicated involved?
Thanks. What about LV? Also, what is your opinion on the possibility of the fix being the connector as FORDF250HDXLT said?
MERCON LV will destroy your transmission. No question about it.
The connector could very well be your problem. The connector is on the end of the harness that plugs into the solenoid body on the rear passenger's side of the transmission.

Thank you. Is there a way to check it with a meter to see if it is good? If not I may just order one they are only about 40.00. I might as well do it to but if I can check it that would be better. If not I will buy it and do it all. Sandy
