I ordered a Extang Trifecta 2.0 Signature series bed cover and want to seal the gaps in the tailgate to the bed. Looks like reviews of several companies bed seals is too narrow for the Ford F150/250/etc bed to tailgate.
Anyone find a correct fitting seal, if so where did you buy it from?
I got one for free when I ordered my Truck Covers USA roll cover. It fits ok, though had to use a combination of 2016 F250 and F150 instructions, as they have none specific to my 2017 F250.
I spent $40 on epdm "D" shaped 3m backed weatherstripping for vehicles. .375 height by .75 wide and just fabbed it up last night. I have a Diamondback cover and hopefully I just created a perfectly sealed bed. Turned my whole bed into a weather proof tool box
These gaps will bite a lot of people in the *** in 10 years or so, when the metal starts to corrode. Gaps like these trap moisture, in areas where paint doesn't cover well or at all.
My advice would be to seal them up. Panel bonding adhesive works excellent in these situations.
My truck is black and has the factory spray in bed liner. I used 2 tubes of black silicon to seal the 'gaps' in the bed and extruded siliconized rubber weather stripping for the tailgate. It does not seal it all, as the gaps are huge, but has blocked most intrusions. I will check it this winter to see if I need to add some additional pieces.
I ordered the Bed Tailgate Dust Seal from Ford - Part No: VFL3Z-99404A06-A . It seems to be pretty good as I am not seeing any water get sucked into the back. Not sure what it will be like for dust though, as it is the wrong season for that right now.
