Just a note. Ordered up a Sterling 10.25/10.5 rear diff Lube Locker gasket off of Amazon a while ago, and finally got around to popping the diff cover, cleaning up everything, and painting the cover (it's already really clean and rust free but I just had to). So I opened up the Lube Locker and see a 14 bolt LLR-A105 and not an LLR-F105. Pizz me off. Amazon returns to the rescue, but truck is out of commission as I refuse to goop up that cover. Hoping the vendor makes it right. The Ad listed an LLR-F105. GRRRrrrrr.....
Run a bead of RTV sealant around the cover. It works great and you don't have to spend $25 on a gasket you don't need. I've done it on dozens of trucks and many trucks come from the factory this way.
Honestly I don't think I've ever taken a diff apart that had a gasket on the cover lol. Didn't even know there was such a thing. I second the silicone.
I hate RTV (I don't really know why, just always have......) and try to avoid it whenever I can. I too am using Lube Locker reusable diff gaskets on my EX, they seal perfectly and can go on and off many times with no mess or hassle. The $25 I spent on each of them hasn't really derailed my retirement plans, so I'm cool with their expense as well as he sweet '08+ finned aluminum cover that replaced the factory cover.
