Yes, the housing mounting points are identical, just the lens and reflective internals are different. You still utilize the OEM plugs/harness for the bulb connections.

This is the thread I started when I upgraded the harness for my headlights. It should provide you all of the information you need.

I upgraded to Philips 9007 X-tremeVision bulbs (after the Ebay specials in the link above) instead of the Silverstars because of my history with the Silverstars. I have used the Silverstars before, but they did seem to have short lives before needing to be replaced. The Philips work great, but I do not have any information on the longevity of their use. The housing not only has better reflector patterns, the clear lens seems to allow for more light to be projected as well. When I bought my truck, it had very badly faded and yellow 2000 version lenses. They not only looked like crap, but performed just as well as a candle on the hood. They were one of the first things to go on the truck.

Thank you Sous ... I appreciate you taking the time to answer and the links to what you've done. Apparently I can't send you reps until I distribute some reps to others. ~ BugJr ~

You are very welcome, and thanks for the reps. My solution may not be for everyone, but it has worked well for me and the cost was not much at all when considering it is much safer to drive in the country at night.

That's it.....thanks!

My 2c, I tried higher wattage bulbs, I tried relays & I tried aftermarket later lights with bulbs & relays, still not satisfied I ended up going for some custom built 05 up units built with morimoto projectors, similar to the link provided by Dan V, the output is fantastic with a sharp dip beam cut off.

Thank you so much for this link. This is EXACTLY what I have been trying to find but it is hard to find threads with photos still up.

I really appreciate it!

Also learned that 02+ headlights are not the same at 99-01. Somehow, I had no idea.

Thank you so much for everyone's input!

Looking at 2002 headlights, am I taking any chances by going with a 1 piece design such as this?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/99-04-F250-....c100005.m2219

or should I stick with the two piece as from factory?

Myself? Stay away. I'd look at some sort of **** approved replacements.

2001...

2002...

well Sous beat me to it so drat....but I agree with Sous, go with the 2002 set up, or better yet the 2005 - 2007 stockies, I have a set so I am a tiny bit partial to them, they are the black housings, I am going to begin my face lift conversion so I am still gathering bits and pieces up at the moment, all I need at the moment is the header panel and a grille (ordering them as a set together, and then the bumper for the finishing piece....and my 2007 face lift will be complete hehehehehehe....I was going to go with the 2008 set up but decided to save on cost I will stick with the 2007 set up so I am not having to buy all new front quarters and then deal with color matching and blah blah blah....

Got a retrofit kit on the way today from TRS.com while they had their 25% off sale.

Just ordered a set of these as well.

I am sure you will be happy with them. They look like a quality product that will produce massive amounts of light. Keep us posted on how the kit install/modification goes and remember, we like pictures.

Better yet, if you have time to do a "how to" similar to what was done for the older truck, that would be good. I know you are on a bit of a time crunch though.

Jaime, do you know if when going from the 2001 headlights to the 2005-2007 headlights, do you need to upgrade the wiring harness too? Also, do you have a thread showing how to details of your headlight swap? Thanks, ~ BugJr ~

yes and no, i could grab the 2005-2007 harness, but I opted for an adapter which came with the pair of lamps I got, so I can keep my truck as is (no cut and splice)

as for my thread I’m still grabbing parts before I begin the swap, also need to figure out how to use Flickr…
