'05 Headlight Upgrade

Can anyone recommend a headlight upgrade to replace the crappy lights on my 05 F250?

Started working nights a couple weeks ago and once I get my Bullet Proof coolers installed I want to park the vette for a while and drive the truck but the headlights are absolute crap.

Thanks in advance.

Crap as in how?

Plastic dull and yellowed? Try a headlight restore kit or just replace them and keep them polished with something like PlastX.

Or just general lack of light output? You could upgrade to something like Silverstar bulbs. They have better light output than the cheap stock bulbs.

Or you could add some aftermarket driving lights.

Thats odd. Everyone upgrades to the 05 style headlights.

What he said ^ plus the option of HIDs is there. You cant really go wrong with them when it comes to light output. You can find some cheap kits like DDM tuning or Kyrptonbulbs.

Or of course just throw on some lights from rigid

Didn't even think about HID, that's definitely an option too. I think the lights on my 05 do a pretty good job, even with just the stock bulbs.

Just a lack of output. The lenses aren't yellow or faded. Guess I'll try some new bulbs before I get crazy with HIDs.

I'd try the Silverstar bulbs. You can get them at pretty much any auto parts store or even Walmart carries them. They don't make a night and day difference, but it is definitely noticeable.

If you put one in and then turn the lights on with the regular bulb still in the other one, you can clearly see the difference.

Try running the headlights from a relay instead of through the dash switch. I upgraded my frontend from a 2000 to the 05-07 front end during my research I found information that the headlights were only getting about 10.5 volts through the stock wiring and dash switch. With this information I added relays to activate from my dash switch and power directly from the battery. Huge improvement!

I wouldnt say HIDs would be "getting crazy" lol a 9 year old could put HIDs in a vehicle.

As for the silverstar bulbs, ive heard they burn out too quickly to be worth the price tag. I thought of buying them myself. But new bulbs every 3-6 months was a turn off for me. From what others have said. Some have had them last a year or longer, others a few weeks, others a few months.

Would putting in HIDs require swapping out the whole assembly? The previous owner was a volunteer fireman and has some cool strobes in the head and tail lights. I never use them but they are there and you never know.

Get your self a set of HID's from Retro Solutions.
I have put them in all my trucks and friends and I would not go without them.

How do I know which ones I need?

Edit: Ok it looks like the 9007s are for F series but can I use the 55W or the 35W?

Nope, the HID bulb will just go in place of your normal bulb. Wire up the ballasts and youre good to go. Very simple to do. Dont let people try and tell you you need to retrofit a projector or any of that BS. A cheap kit from DDMtuning.com or kryptonbulbs.com will do you just fine. Ive used, and loved kits from both those places.

DDM- HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning
KryptonBulbs- 35W HID Kits (most popular)

Stay with the 35watt kits. No need for 55w.

Any questions just ask

I have the 55w 5000k ones and love them.
I had a set from DDM and they lasted about a year.
The Retro kits are a LOT better.
