Bought my 17 f250 6.2 from a dealer with a 2.5" pro comp level kit on it. I assume they put the cheapest one on there (just the coil spacers and shock spacers) They sell that kit around 150$ on ebay The dealer also put on 35x12.50s before I bought it.
It drives nice and straight but I do have plenty of bump steer when I hit a bad pothole etc. I have not noticed if my axle sticks out farther to one side or not like some people say.
Should I spend the money on a steering stabilizer kit (which I like the looks of) or instead should I buy one of the aftermarket trackbar brackets. (I see stage 3 has one for 159$ and readylift sells one for $229) Do I really NEED a tracbar bracket and if so are there other pieces i need to go with it?
I was looking at the Zone dual stabilizer kit for around 175$ I know it may not be the top model but I just like the looks of it and would match my truck in white, and might help some of the bump steer.
If I do either of these additions will I have to take it in for realignment? any suggestions?
I suggest buying a track bar bracket for sure. It will get rid of the bump steer and center your axle as well. I have had an adjustable track bar come loose at the adjustment point and it ended up ruining the track bar itself. this was on my Dodge where I ended up putting a bracket on and have had no problems since.
On my Ford SD I have a 2 1/2 inch level Kit and ended up purchasing the Ready Lift track bar bracket. It is a VERY high quality unit and you won’t be sorry. It’s very easy to put on but you need to have a torque wrench that goes to 405 ft lbs (or a multiplier tool for a lesser torque wrench):
Technically you should have it realigned afterwards as putting on a new bracket will probably throw it off but only a little bit. While your at it, you should also have some castor bushings installed to bring the caster to the heavy side of factory specs. This will make a huge difference and get rid of any steering wander. I actually highly recommend this and I doubt the dealer added them. search this on the forum and you’ll get a lot of info on it. Your expensive truck deserves these two items and you do too for your driving pleasure!
So I called the aftermarket shop that did the level kit for my dealer and chatted with the guy for a while. He seemed pretty smart with lifts and had his own f350 with a similar kit. He told me that trackbar bracket will do absolutely 0 for any sort of bump steer I might feel. He said the only thing it will gain you is getting you axle more centered and "for my case with only a 2.5" level its really not worth doing" So, he did ask about tire pressure and they are running at 70psi right now. He said to drop them 10 lbs and would bet my ride is a lot better. (35x12.5 x20 mud tires)
Either way I am going to end up buying both the stabilizer and the bracket in the long run, but I never did think of the tire pressure thing. He also said I might have to take it to the ford dealer to get them to change the low range of the pressure light so it will not come on. I will report back on how the pressure change affects things.

The tech is correct, the bracket will only realign the axle to the frame (to keep all four wheels in track). Its the castor angle you need to have corrected to eliminate bump steer
