Engine Block #'s

So I've pulled out the motor from my 76' Highboy and started pulling numbers off the engine. On the passenger side of the block are the numbers C6ME-A, which I'm assuming means 66 truck engine in 352, 390, 410, or 428? On the opposite side are what I think are the numbers HO SC right above the motor mount on the block, but the H could possibly be an N. On the exhaust manifold the numbers are D5TE and 6431-BC which should mean 1975 truck engine? The casting number is 6119, right near the exhaust manifold on the block it says C3AE-H, right next to the DIF. On the transmission it says C-9**91 with an AK under it. The freeze plug say 1 3/4 on them. Can someone decipher all these? NumberDummy?

That "C" does stand for for the 1960s if it's the first character of the Engineering Number, but it only denotes when the part was originally designed. Your block should have a casting date stamped separately, and that will tell you the real age.
I don't know where FEs have their date stamp, but it's probably near, or on the same side as, the engineering number.

That C6ME sounds more like '66 Mercury. I know that at least in the '80s, engineering numbers for truck parts were something like the E7TE cylinder head, with "T" denoting "truck."

Concur with the above. C6xx means the original design and the following designations would indicate product line and system.

Where it gets more specific is the engineering revision code.. typically a letter as a suffix. Problem is that it still doesn't provide a calendar year date unless it is known when that engineering change/revision actually occurred.

390 (and 360) not installed in F100/350 until 1968. 410/428 not installed in any year F100/350, Passenger Cars only.

On the left exhaust manifold, the casting number is: D5TE-9431-BC which is a 1975/76 F100/350 FE engine.
The engine has been swapped, a 1975 would not have a block casting (it's not an engineering) number of C6ME-A which was used with both 1966 cars (352/390/410/428) and F100/350 (352).

1975 block casting number prefix could be D4TE or D5TE .. You didn't list the block casting date code of the C6ME block.

The date code is composed of 4 digits, the 2nd digit is a letter, the others are numbers. The letters are A (January) thru M (December). The letter I is skipped.

Example: 6D16 = Block cast April 16, 1966.

The D5TE-9431-BC left exhaust manifold is correct for a 1975/76 F100/350 360/390, except you listed a 6 instead of the correct 9.

Intake/exhaust manifold basic numbers are in the 9000 group, while engine basic numbers are in the 6000 group.
