ok, this is not going to be a 'What do I have?' post....well, maybe.
I tore down a 390 today that came out of a 1970 galaxie. it is an origonal 2V motor down to the factory pistons with '390 2V' cast on the side near the wrist pins.
Here is the odd thing. the block does NOT have the usuall casting numbers like 'C6ME-AE' and the like, nor does it have the '105' on the front near the waterpump. it does have a casting date. any one ever come accross these blocks before. I've always seen them with at least some sort of egnineering casting numbers on them.
btw, the Rods do have the casting numbers on the beam, just not the block.
i have a FE block that has no casting #'s anywhere and it has reinforcement webs on the outside of the block, im not sure what the motor is cuz its still in a 76 f250 truck but its not the original motor. the only thing i know it came out of a mid 60's car.
i have about a 1970 block with no casting numbers anywhere just the date code by the oil adapter. The front of my block says 61 352 but thats worthless.
The CJ in my '69 Mach1 has no casting numbers, neither does my friend's '70 Shelby. These last years of the DIF block are like that. Does your block have the partial VIN stamped on the driver's side rear?
I've got two 68 390 blocks like it. Both are thin walled castings I would hesitate to bore either over 30. They were cast a week apart in 1968, one's from a Monterey, the other from a Galaxie
