Talking Upgrades are here!

Well, I needed new up pipes and that lead to other upgrades that just makes sense to do at the same time.

1) Bellowed up pipes
2) EBPV delete
3) Turbo rebuild w/ new wheel
4)HPOP lines replaced
5) New CAC Boots (4)
6) Plenum inserts
7)Hutch/Harpoon mod
8) Racor filter

Finished wrapping them tonight.

I bought the Racor Filter about a month ago and figured I'd start building the bracket. i have a write up of the bracket but FTE won't let me post more than 1 picture. The above pictures are out of order and that took forever to load. Frustrating to say the least...

Nice wrap job. Sometimes I wish I had wrapped the ones I installed, but was excited to get the truck going again. We look forward to your thoughts on how different the truck behaves.

I can only post 1 picture per post sorry for multiple posts.

So I had some 3x3 angle I cut a piece about 10" long. I also used a 2" square U bolt and I put the "plate" that normally goes by the nut on the front of the filter. I did this to help distribute the force on the filter housing.
The issue that arose was there are no holes in the lip of the Frame rail. So I cut another 3" piece of angle.

I layed that piece OVER the angle creating a U shape with the hopes I could slide this over the frame rail to take advantage of the holes already in the frame.
I drilled all the holes then tacked it together to make sure I could actually slide over the frame.

After tacking it together and making sure that it would go over the frame and the holes lined up, I welded it together.

I mocked everything up one last time. I realized at this point that the mounting bracket has to go over the rail before you mount the filter. Overall, not really a big deal.

I wanted to provide the filter some protection, I thought about a bash plate but figured that would just catch debris and hang onto it. I had a 28 ounce Gatorade bottle that I had just finished and it got me thinking. So I cut the top off and lo and behold it slid right over the filter and onto the housing. I used a ball bungee and an S hook to secure it to the filter housing, it fits extremely snug and is cheap to replace.

Here's a picture of it on the filter, you can see the clearance on the bottom. And the ridges in the Gatorade bottle provide surprisingly substantial protection to the filter.

Here is the filter mounted up and obviously full of fuel. I looped the fuel line as you see in the picture figuring that if the filter somehow got damaged on the road all I would need to do is simply take the hose off the filter, using a 3/8 to 3/8 barb, I can simply reconnect the two hoses together bypassing the filter and be back on the road.

And because I'm sure you're dying to see how the Gatorade bottle looks on the filter. Here's the money shot! I primed the fuel system 4x's then started the truck. Started perfectly no rough idle nothing. That is one job I did not want to do again especially by myself! Dropping the tank wasn't bad but it was a pain to put back up.
