Just out of curiosity, was your truck running during todays update attempt?
I’m running 2.2. I’ll try again tomorrow after I’ve cycled the sytem a few times. Wouldn’t be surprised if the first failure blocked the other attempts because something was stuck in the cache.

I got some kind of mem3 failure note. It shouldn’t be the USB, as that’s 128gb.

What did it say when it failed?

I just did mine, once I got around the “this USB device uses too much power, please remove†issue (used a USB hub I had, even though the truck also told me it doesn’t support hubs and to please unplug, it all worked fine) then after about 20-30 minutes it was done. I haven’t noticed a huge difference, maybe a little better response on the gestures?

Have you tried reformatting your thumb drive, putting the files back on it, then attempting the update again?

One thing that I did notice, there was nothing prompting me from the radio initially that it was updating. I noticed the light on my thumb drive flashing, after a couple of minutes a line of text appeared in the top left of the home screen saying the system was updating....

It`s rare but sometimes a USB that large will cause problems with SYNC updates.

At the least make sure it`s totally clean and free from anything else on it.

What I noticed after I updated earlier this week is that whatever I touch on the SYNC screen, everything is much quicker and snappier. Also one other thing happened.... the tone while backing up my truck changed to a higher pitch and it seems to only be coming from one left speaker.

Has anyone else noticed this as well?

All good ideas....I reformatted my USB twice actually. Once at the start and again after my second failure. I ran a few errands tonight and will do some more tomorrow. I plan to re-download the zip file and start everything fresh again. I’m also going to shut off the automatic updates and WiFi as well, just in case those are interfering.

I’ll see if I can find a smaller USB stick too...

Good day all. Like I said above, my update went fairly well, and I now have the 2.3 version running. My question is: how come on the Ford Owner site, it indicates the correct date for my Sync 2.3 update (8 Nov) but under the little icon of my vehicle, it indicates that the "latest confirmed update" to my vehicle is 16 November?
I do have wi-fi on and "auto updates" enabled. Is Ford releasing little "patch" updates and not telling us? Or, is the truck just telling me that 16 Nov was the last time it checked to see if there was an update?

No need to worry, the Ford Owner website is a little slow with updating after an update by the owner.

If you have Auto Updates on and are within a strong WiFi signal area, the SYNC system will automatically check for updates so just ignore the different dates you see.

As long as the SYNC system in your vehcile says 2.3, you`re good to go.

Thanks.

Thank you, GABAR for your sage words and sound analysis. I am happy to be a member of this Forum, even tho my Super Duty is long gone.
I loved that truck. Sold it in '13 and drove a 2010 Explorer for 4 years. Just bought a '17 F-150 XLT Screw regular box. I am very happy with the truck so far. Cheers all.

Great question. According to Ford, it contains “This software release is the latest update in our continued efforts to improve system performance, device connectivity, and the overall SYNC experience.”

So....who knows what’s in there.

I really haven`t taken the time to look over everything after I updated to 2.3 but I did notice two changes right immediately.

The SYNC touch screen is much quicker and snappier now than it was before the update so in my opinion, thats a good thing.

The other change that I noticed and I really don`t like is that when i`m backing up, the warning tone that indicates when one is getting closer to an object, that tone changed to a much higher pitch and now it seems to be coming from just front tweeter on the drivers side.

Thanks guys...
I was hoping to hear about better integration with apps on my Android and her iPhone.
Since I don’t have factory Nav, I use the Google Maps feature quite heavily along with Pandora. It would be great to have more apps that can be shared.
My only real pet peave is that when I bring up Google Maps, the Audio system thinks I want to listen to Pandora as well - suddenly I have music. Touch the on/off switch for the audio and now maps goes to sleep. Maps comes back when I hit the bent-arrow icon - so it’s only an inconvenience..

I've been watching this thread and looking for the update but my Ford Owners web doesn't have any updates. So I took a look at the sync in my 2018 F150 and low and behold its version 2.3. Now I know why I have no updates. Since I have nothing to compare it to, I have no idea what difference between 2.2 and 2.3 is ? But looking at another thread about using Android Auto and sync, the op there stated that they had to turn off blue tooth before connecting. I don't have that problem. I can connect without having to turn off blue tooth.

I have the V2.3 available on my ford owner site, however, when I go to download it and then "agree" to the terms, it gives me an error message. Therefore, I can't download it. Anyone have an extra zip file around?
