New Starter
What’s the best starter for a 76 highboy 360? The old one is going out ( magnet not engaging and just making the buzz sound ) going to pick up another one and take the old one out. The current one started fine ( when it worked ) but would lag a bit when starting ( engine not firing right away, took a couple seconds ) Does anyone recommend a starter for what I mentioned?

I picked up a ultima starter today, flange was broken and had to take it back ( last one they had and was banged up, should have looked in box ), but do y’all recommend that brand starter? It’s the first one that shows up on google and o Reilly’s.

I think that's what I have on mine. I'm not impressed with it, it seems rather pretentious, but it does start my truck when it should and doesn't when it shouldn't. I think mine had a slightly sticky bendix out of the box.

If you are savvy rebuild it yourself. Usually just worn brushes or dirty sticking bendix. Those old horseshoe starters are really simple
