If all the connections are good and the starter has been getting slower, I second the starter.

Thumbs up

go to ebay search for 6.9l starter find a seller named 14rebuilders
they have a new aftermarket gear reduction starter that replaces the original starter
i replaced mine a few weeks ago and this starter spins the engine about three times as fast as the original and really helps eliminate hard starting
it was only about $125.00 including shipping

If the starter is turning slow enough to be able to count the number of revolutions, that is not good.

i say you should buy the aftermarket high torque starter for the idi it cost about the same as the factory but it cranks a hole lot faster, mine died not to long ago but i didnt have the money to buy a starter and alternator so i bought a re man alternator and i took 2 junk starters and i built one and its working fine so far

Ok, does anyone know a good way to get the top bolt in on a starter for the 84 F-250 6.9L?

The older Nippondenso starters were a real pain to get the top bolt in and out.

This is a newer one, the motor has been reclocked and it does look like you can get a socket on the bolt.

The old ones, wrench only.
