Are you sure you want the TYPE 4 mirror? These were only installed on Econolines, usually 1969/74's.

ND I know that some of the Ecos came with them. I just was wondering if anyone had done it. The kids want the truck with something along the lines of a type 5 but the head is just too small for me to be real useful on a SuperCab. They are fine for mustangs and Broncos but I like the WC JR's which I have but they want something smaller. Although I love the type 3's they don't. I think the Type 4 with a replaced round head(I think they are removable aren't they) would work. Can't believe that no ones tried it. I might have to be the first

I always liked the type 9, or "below eye level" mirrors. They are easy to see around in traffic, less wind drag and can fold back in a tight spot. I have seen something like the type 4 on pickups and they look fine.

The mirror head is replaceable and could be purchased separately, but...

IMO: You cannot use the 1969/74 TYPE 4 version on your truck, due to the way they mount. I don't know if the 1975/79 version mounts the same, but it probably does.

1973/79 parts catalog pic for TYPE 4 is for the 1969/74 version (same pic is in the 1964/72 catalog). There's no pic for the 1975/79 version, so I don't know how it mounted.

Here's the pic, look how the bracket is angled where it mounts to the door.

I too had thought the Mounting angle would be any issue, but I am going to get or borrow one to see how it looks like before I dismiss it altogether. Will post pics one way or the other.
