Recall reading some folks experienced their lower radiator hose collapsing especially under load in this Summer, Did some research and ordered a "Lower Radiator Hose Spring" from CJ Pony Parts (800) 888-6437, P/N HW770 for $8.99. Within the advertisement it indicates stainless steel, but I checked it W/a magnet last night and the magnet stuck to it. More than likely it's stainless steel coated.

Unlikely that it's stainless steel coated, as stainless steel is an alloy not a coating material. Not all stainless steels are non-magnetic. The feretic stainless steels will attract a magnet. These are commonly cheaper, and I would imagine more likely to be used in something like a lower radiator hose spring. It is probably 409 stainless.

How did it end up working? And did it end up rusting during your summer adventures?
To get a lower hose spring I had to buy a flex hose, under $10, that had a spring I could remove, not easily I may add, to install in my hose.
I got to say it was even harder to install than pull out.

Aaron-71,
Got the lower radiator hose spring in the mail Thursday evening after I got off work and I haven't installed it yet. But plan to do so 11 November 2017. This coming weekend is already pre-planned.
