My dealer tells me my order for a 2018 Super Duty has not been scheduled because I have included option 555 Inflatable rear belts. The dealer suggests deleting the option may speed up the order. They are not aware when this situation will change. This all sounds logical.
Does anyone know how long this delay is likely to last? If I have to wait a few extra weeks, or so, for the option fine. But if the additional wait is many months I'd likely delete the option now and live without it.
If it matters, the truck is a F450 Limited, loaded with the exception of FX4 and Plow Package.
I think only Ford really knows when they will actually be available. NADA build site says Late Availability. But that could mean late MY2018, (possibly next year some time).
I just went through this earlier in the week. I was initially told it would not delay my truck. Two hours later they called and said 4 to 6 month delay. I told them to delete the belts. I think I lost 3 weeks as I still don’t have a vin or build date. I ordered my KR in early October I’m really upset because I had bring it up. My dealer is not looking out for me.
141,000 '15 - '17 F150s and '17 Super Duties built before June 16th with inflatable belts were recalled 8/31 due to a rivet problem and there were no parts or tools or whatever available to fix the issue.
I think Ford just started getting to those trucks.
Ordered a 2018 F350 this past week (10 March 2018) with the rear inflatable safety belts.
Dealer showed me a message FORD sent them two (2) days later regarding my order which stated the rear inflatable safety belts are late availability. Dealer stated I could cancel the safety belt option and receive the truck in four (4) to eight (8) weeks OR keep the order as is and I would most likely receive a 2019 model year due to Ford’s new model year production transition occurring in April. The dealer also stated I would lose any 2018 factory rebates which imo sounds like a small claims settlement would be justified.

You ordered last week and want to take the dealer/ford to court over seat belts?
No offense, but this is why ford has dealers. The general public is a nightmare to deal with at times.
