Any direction here will be appreciated! My 2013 E250 Cargo Van spontaneously shuts down while driving. I don't mean stalls...EVERYTHING goes dead, mechanical and electrical
just shuts off as if a switch was flipped. Minutes later it can be restarted and driven. The bonus? Absolutely NO codes are thrown! There is no condition that can be replicated to make this
happen either. The dealer has had it 3 times, put 500 miles on it and it didn't shut down. I've had it happen to 4 different people, 2 of which were unaware if the issue and it appeared.
Any ideas? Anything al all, please !
We have an International truck at work that would do this. It happened to me in AZ and wouldn't restart and got towed to a shop and "fixed". I got back on the road and it did it again about 500 miles later, but I was able to restart it like yours. This time, I shook every single wire and finally found a wire that I would shake and it would cut everything out. It was a bad connection at a connector.
Some Fords have a 2 piece positive cable, where it runs down by the battery, between there and the starter you will see a spot in the cable where the splice is, could the shielding be off and it grounding somewhere? A friend experience his 96 quitting, but that was due to an unknown to him, a remote start that had a short.
Key switch? I recall Chevy had a problem with big heavy key rings hanging off the key switches killing the ignition.
People would take them to the dealer and leave them with just a single key, which was never heavy enough to replicate the problem.
Then the customer would get the car back, drive it around the block with their regular 5 pounds of keys hanging off the ignition switch and bingo! Car quit.

That's a good point! I had the ignition switch on an Aerostar fail for the same reason. I got my wife a key ring that had a disconnect so she could separate the ignition key from the rest, to avoid hanging all that weight on the switch.
It's sure worth checking.
The wiring to the switch is also something to check. It all runs through there.
