A couple of weeks ago my AC suddenly stopped working. I hooked up a set of gages and the system had equalized at 80 psi. I tried to add freon, but it would not take any. I tried jumping the compressor switch at the accumulator, but the compressor would not start. I thought I would replace the binary switch at the compressor, but didn't realize I would loose my charge I replaced the switch and pulled a vacuum on the system. Got it down to 29 inches and tried to recharge the system. I was able to get about 50 psi in the system, but it won't take any more and the compressor will not start. I tried jumping the compressor switch, but it still won't start. Sounds like the clutch coil??
Almost forgot, I replaced the orifice tube before evacuating. It had a little debris, but not bad.
Thanks!

Reason: Add
Take an DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) to it in the continuity mode and see what
you come up with. I have a known good coil on the bench that I will check in
a bit and post for you later tonight.
1. Check to see if power to the coil is being provided (a few folks have found bad wiring to energize the coil).
2. Check coil to see if short or open.
