The heater in your DEF tank maybe bad or going bad. Check with dealer to see if it is covered under the emissions warranty and if you are covered.

No warranty left. Does the aftermarket make DEF tank heaters? Guess I'll do some googling. Thanks for your help.

The emission warranty has different limits on the years and miles.

I suspect you can buy a replacement DEF heater at the local parts house or from Ford parts.

So I finally got my DEF tank heater replaced and fingers crossed that is all cleared up but now I'm showing P229E code. Has anybody seen this code before. Some say it could be a NOX sensor gone bad? Why would throw it after I replaced the DEF heater? Could I have bumped it maybe? Or just a coincidence? I'm a die hard Ford guy but man they sure have a mess going on underneath of these trucks. Should a guy be deleting all this afterburner crap? This is a work truck so I don't need it throwing the CEL light once a week. Wish the government would leave these company's alone so they could build simple reliable engines.

Thanks for the quick reply. So you don't happen to know where it's located on a f550 cab n chassis?

Should be near EGT14 which is the last EGT sensor. Maybe these photos will help...

So now I'm throwing two codes. P22A7 and P229E. Does this indicate a different problem or still just the NOX sensor. Thanks
