Hood Hinge fix/source?

I have a 75 f250. The left hinge no longer draws the hood flush with the cowling. The hinge is adjusted all the way down, yet the hood sticks 1/2" up.

Is there a fix for this? If not, is there a source for a replacement that's not cheap lmc C... crud-ola?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about fixes for it but I have seen threads here about aligning the hood properly. Here's a replacement from Dennis Carpenter:

Is there a way to know if it is the hinge or the spring or both that need to be replaced?

Could just be out of adjustment. When I restored my truck I had to keep adjusting hinge for same problem you described. Having hinge lowered all the way does not solve the problem. There are threads here that describe how to adjust. I will see if I can find them.

Thanks for the information--the link. Man, of course I should have done a search. Duh. I guess once I haven't worked on the truck for a while, I just forget how to best use the forum. I got reminded. Thanks again.

I copy/pasted to a file. I'm so glad I read that. I simply thought that the hinge was adjusted all the way down, with both front and rear, so there was no where else to go, except to buy a new spring/hinge, or both. Money saved.

The spring is probably ok. The pivot points wear out in time. Should be plenty of good ones left out there in your local wrecking yards.

Seems I hear this all the time... Although the hood hinges are usually the last thing to be pulled, you just don't see these trucks any more. It's highly unusual to see a 40 year old truck in a wrecking yard these days. And if you do spot a unicorn, they get raped in the first month or two and crushed to make room for other vehicles. I have a search on my phone for my local yards for pre '79 F100/F150/F250/F350's and haven't seen one in 2 years.

But on second note, please PM me if interested in a set. I have a couple laying around as back-ups that I don't think I will ever need. I'd sell them reasonably.
