Back in the 70s and 80s you could do a brake job and reuse the drums if within specs then a new law come in,all brake jobs required new drums and hardware, the use of old drums was getting out of control with hairline cracks not seen or waved drums and drivers wanted to save money, took forever to change there way of thinking.

They still taught us how to turn drums back in tech school, '92, however the only drums I ever turned were the practice drums we had.
I've had very few rotors turned since that time, it seldom made sense unless it was a car I was working on myself at the NAPA garage that let me use the hoist and lathe. About that time it was becoming a dying practice and as an engine machinist originally, I always cringe a little when I see a brake lathe at the local shop stuck in the back corner used as a storage shelf.
I was almost responding with a post, but we’re getting pretty far out there from radiator leak stop, since recently being reminded of thread drift ......
As Scott would point out, you can’t cause a thread drift more then I typically do. It sucks for someone who might’ve be searching in the future, but I find them interesting because like a face to face discussion, you get into a lot of varied subjects. There’s an audio forum that I used to be in that wanders all over the place on every post.
See Jack, you may think you are the root of all thread-drift evil... But my post above was actually going to be about my recent brake shoe replacement and what I did to the drums - ON MY GOLF CART!!!
Isn't drifting some sort of sport where they burn the tires off the car and still try to make a good time on the course???
I know it's not really the ideal fix, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience/luck using Rislone or Bar's Leak Head Gasket Fix to repair leaking head gaskets or EGR coolers? My truck is an 05 F350 6.0 diesel and I've been loosing coolant out of the overflow tank cap. It also will blow a little white smoke out the exhaust on a cold start but cleans up in a few seconds.
Just in case , drifting has come to a slow down ,lol
