what heads will interchange on a 351 from a 89 f350?
i have a sunken valve in a head, i dont know if these heads use replacable valve seats or not ? what do you guys think?
is was wondering what years heads will work, can i go back all the way into the 70s?
i was lookng at autozone and they are selling rebuilt heads for it for $164 but dont have the rocker studs installed and i never have installed press in studs before so im weary
im pretty sure if i took the head to a machine shop i would think it could easily be over 164 in repair money
1994 for this motor. You want E7TE heads, they were used from '87 to the end of production on all 5.0 and 5.8 truck motors so they are plentiful and cheap. That head uses pedestal mount rockers.
my heads say e7te on them, i would think they are correct. it looks like the rockers have a bolt that hold them on from the top. i dont see any press in rocker studds at all.
I did a half assed pressure test on valve seats bu putting soapy water in the chamers and pushing compressed air in the intake and exhaust ports. most the valves let little bubbles by but i think i might be able to hand lap the valves and seats to get them to seal better. even tho that sunken looking valve is like that it doesnt seem to leak any worse then the rest of them
Don't waste your time with those heads as is. When that sunken valve gets done, it's going to be released from the spring, then it'll drop into the cylinder and then ? Kaboom!! Your whole motor will be toast.

i got 4 heads ill select the best 2 of the bunch. i actually didnt care much for how much higher the valve stem sits on that one.
