running board step plates
Regarding parts on my 54, I have at times gone to extreme efforts to use the original parts - sometimes a little too far... Until a few years ago I could honestly say that during my rebuild process I had only spent a few thousand dollars in parts. Now with the tires, new steering shaft, tail lights, etc I'm up to about $4000 over all. It takes hours and hours at the bench top wire wheel, a little cosmetic work and skill with a rattle can to keep the price tag to a minimum. I spent $110 on new wires and connectors to restore my original wiring harness - replaced the wires that needed to be replaced and repaired others. To me, restoration actually means to restore, rather than throw out and buy new because its easier. Oh, and I have 5 OE hubcaps I picked up from someone (from Abe) that are about half way through restoration - I graded them 1 through 5 before I started and now #5 is actually at #2 as far as condition - 6 months of winters in central Idaho give you lots of time to work on restoring parts..
Hooler, not crazy about the F100 on the step plates - script is more up my alley.
These are my original parking lights with new wires and a set of 1954 Idaho License plates that I restored.
