Water Pump

Hello All,

I’m relatively new to this forum, been lurking a while finally made an account.

Getting ready to replace my water pump again and want to make sure I get it right this time. It's leaking still so I'm guessing the bolts are not tight enough.

A few different YouTube videos references different torque lbs. one said 17 the other 50. Where can I get the shop manual for this application?

Would the coolant loss affect the interior heat?

Thanks in advance,

greg

17 lbf-ft on the M8 bolts for the water pump.

Why are you replacing it "again" and what part of the job are you concerned about getting right this time?

It's a straightforward job with the fan clutch being the biggest PIA.

I'll update my OP. It's leaking still so I'm guessing the bolts are not tight enough.

The 2003 & 2004 years are a little harder to do so give me a few hrs
if you need anything.

Correct.

If it's still leaking after you replaced the water pump, your concern is the seal.

I bought one from diesel site and almost a year after I had it, it started leaking. I called up Bob and he had me replace the seal with a Felpro. Hasn't leaked since.

The waterpumps are a nightmare to change in these trucks. For that reason alone I put a BPD water pump in my truck when it was bullet proofed. I would recommend that to everyone because you most likely will send the truck to the bone yard with the same BPD pump still going. They last forever and is why they guarantee them for life.

Pretty easy if you keep the stator off. Belt changes, pulleys .....

Really?!? I didn't mind much...but I had more access than most. it seems once you get the fan and shroud out it seems to go quickly.

This.

Everything is easier with the stator in the rafters where it belongs.

still leaking so I went to ford and they quoted me about 4k for the water pump and oil leak.

I will be getting smart on diesels quickly.

SO after my fun visit to ford I am not driving a truck that can barely get out of its own way. I feel like they did something but probably wont be able to prove it.

Also now getting two codes:
P0198 Oil Temp
P2262 Turbo Charger

The EOT and Water temp are the same 187-190.

Check the hose from the intake manifold to the MAP sensor. The MAP sensor is above the heater box. If that is disconnected it can cause the P2262 code.

P0198 indicates a short in the EOT sensor. You should check that out also.
