Hey Proeliator, How many inches of lift do you need to clear your 44's. Thats just what i want to get or build. Except all the horsepower. Also i have seen some of the 73-79 trucks with 44's but there wheel base seems to be a lot wider. Any reason . Thanks.
I have 14.5 inches. But post this question over in the 4x4 section and I'll go more indepth. No truck tech allowed in the general forum and we don't want to get (in best arnie voice) Mawdurated
Well shucks, I guess the posts got moved anyways. Anyways, now I'll go into more depth (this all may sound confusing to the rest of you but this was originally in the general discussion forum before being moved here). So you want to build yours like mine except without all the horsepower!? Don't forget that Boggers EAT horsepower, so the more the merrier. Anyways, I'd say between 12" and 14" is what you want for 44s. Although 44s will still make contact at full stuff even with 14", its not too bad. You could get away with a mere 12" if you don't have allot of articulation. In most cases, the reason the wheel base of some 73-79s seems wider is simply the width of the tires. I've got 42" swampers for all terrain road duty and they make my wheelbase seem narrower in comparison to the wider boggers.

Actually, thats quite true. The red one is not my primary trail rig though, and I actually went tall to make a point and watch the jeep guys lose bets on the trail on when I was going to roll. Guess it depends on what he wants to use his truck for.
