Just wondering if anyone else was into Mountain Biking as a Hobby. I have been into it for about 5 years now and love it. If so What do You ride? What kind of riding do You do?
Why Yes, I love to mountain bike. Although I don't do as much as I used to, I still like it. My ride is a Schwinn Sierra MOS with the Manitou 3 front shocks. When I got it (1992), it was pretty tough. It still is, but is outdated next a carbon fiber machine. I really enjoyed getting air with it and love hill climbing. I put the front shocks on after a evening of doing 3' high ramps and discovering a crack half way through one of the forks. Cheap life insurance. I also installed the nightsun light system. When the only time I had was riding at night or pre-dawn these things work. Even made semi's dim their lights. Now it gets used to tow my son around town in his kiddie cart. I still enjoy the wheelie's though. This is the only bike I've had that I haven't bent the handlebars, frame or the axles....yet. It's heavy and for a reason.
I know the feeling on cracked parts. I just replaced my GT Zaskar with a Barracuda Matrix. The GT got squeaking and I found some nice little cracks in the seems. OH well. Love the new one though. Take it easy.
at the pic of my truck in my sig file and you will see my K2 hardtail mounted in the bed (along with several spare wheelsets). My girlfriend and i are both avid mountain bikers as well as both being 4x4 truck owners. We've been riding together now for just over two years but both got into the sport on our own back in the early 90's. We've gone riding all over the midwest and taken biking vacations to numerous locations elsewhere across the U.S. as well. In fact we just got back from a weekend camping/biking trip in southern Indiana and are currently getting ready for a trip out to San Diego for Memorial Day Weekend to do some riding with some friends out there.
And in case anyone cares... here's a link to a better pic of my bike: [link:www.pamba.thinkhost.com/images/K2front.jpg|K2 Razorback HT]

Nice looking rides! how do you like that Bomber fork? I am thinking about switching to a Manitou Black this fall. I have the Factory Chilli Works 530 (70mm travel, adjustable rebound) on my 'cuda right now but it seems heavy. It works well though. I like the K2's really well. I went back and forth between Hardtail and FS for this one and finally decided that The FS was for me. I ride mostly XC and some mild Downhill. Most of the trails I ride are in Thetford forest in the UK. If You ever get over here look me up. The trails are pretty sweet. I have an older Jamis hardtail Frame I may put to good use yet. Right now I am in the process of upgrading from the Deore drivetrain that came on the bike to Deore XT 9 speed and a Bontrager comp 175mm crank. The 170's on it right now are too short for me. lol. Take care and keep riding. Thanks for the response.
Currently the fork on my bike is a '98 Z2 BAM which i'm very happy with, and my girlfriend has an '01 Z2 Atom Race on her Seven Sola which she just built up this past winter. We both were using Manitou forks before (SX-r's and SX-ti's) and liked them alot so i'm considering getting one of the new Black model forks for the Voodoo Bakka frame i'm picking up (will be my commuter/urban ride bike). I really like the K2 alot (and having a K2 hardtail usually gets a few looks from people who thought K2 only made full suspension frames), but i've got it set up as a lightweight race bike so i wanted something a bit beefier to play around with and the Voodoo should fit that need perfectly.
Will definitely be in touch next time we find ourselves out your way (always nice to meet fellow enthusiasts, be it mountain bikes, or trucks...).
