2000 F250 Belt Problems

2000 F250 Belt Problems
Hi everyone,
Very frustrated by my belt right now. I had a squeaking recently which I determined was one of the pulleys (either idler or the tension pulley) so I replaced both the individual pulley (YS238), the whole spring tensioner (BT-50) and put a new belt on (JK81223AA). It all assembled fine and I drove it a while, but it would squeal on startup and sometimes when I stressed the power steering pump or turned the A/C on. I called the local Ford parts dealer who told me I had the wrong belt so I swapped it for the JK81227 belt. This belt was even looser. Then I swapped the original back on despite the cracks because I figured it would last a bit longer and it was so loose the fan wasn't turning. Now I don't know if it's the belt or the tensioner. Am I supposed to set the tensioner somehow? Does it take time to apply tension? I am at a loss, but need the truck running as it's my daily driver.

This is the belt I used, the fit and finish was great.
Gates K081223HD from Rock Auto
If you have the belt routed properly and it is in fact a failing belt, perhaps look into replacing it with the Gates.

If your belt and routing are correct and the only problem is the squealing belt, try reversing the belt (front edge becomes the back edge).
